Growing, private-equity-backed, clean technology firm is seeking an experienced Field Operations Manager to join the company’s field support team. The purpose of this position is to direct the operation and maintenance of multiple wastewater treatment plants. This is accomplished by managing plant staff to maintain operations and address maintenance issues; reviewing system data and directing process changes to ensure compliance with all applicable permits; meeting with staff on personnel matters, including safety, cost, and performance; assisting in preparing budgets for the wastewater treatment plant; assisting in overseeing expenditures and preparing bid specifications/reviewing various contracts; and communicating system performance to clients and internal stakeholders. Other duties include reviewing new technologies and making recommendations as to their useful benefit, as well as monitoring the computer control system and related equipment and software.

Typical Duties:
- Reviews all plant functions and activities to ensure compliance by monitoring plant process trends, graphics, and data; discusses plant operation efficiency with VP of Engineering and client; tours facility to view process activities and equipment performance; discusses, modifies, and develops Standard Operating Procedures
- Oversees system maintenance by reviewing both scheduled and rush repair work orders; prepares status updates for VP of Engineering; discusses maintenance projects and time schedules with VP of Engineering; develops and/or oversees preventive maintenance program of the plants
- Oversees expenditures of budgeted funds by assisting in the preparation of the annual budget for the system; reviews operating expenses; discusses requests and budget items with internal stakeholders
- Works with staff on issues related to plant personnel; interacts with Human Resources and VP of Engineering when needed; implements, directs, and enforces plant safety and risk management program; monitors attendance and time sheet approval
- Prepares various reports, such as the monthly Discharge Monitoring Report, and reviews with VP of Engineering
- Oversees the requisition process for tools, materials, equipment, and services
- Is responsible for inventory of stored material for use in the plant
- Communicates effectively with co-workers and client site personnel
- Uses good judgment and tact in obtaining or giving information of a confidential nature
- Has a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization
- Has the ability to write reports and prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
- Is familiar with CMMS systems and standard operating procedures (SOP)
The Right Stuff:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Marine, Facilities Engineering, or similar. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education
- 5 years experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant
- 3 plus years experience in supervising a team
- Strong problem solver with the ability to think logically and rationally
- High attention to detail
- Strong work ethic
- Willingness to fill a variety of roles from independent execution to management
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team environment
- Local candidates preferred; currently we are not offering relocation
Working Environment:
- This position will be subject to 24-hour emergency callbacks and standby, and requires working varying hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- You must adhere to all federal, state, local, and company safety procedures and policies including wearing appropriate PPE
- Working from your home office may be an option
- You will have to travel from your primary office to customer sites in the Santa Rosa area at least 50% of the time
- May work outside in varying temperatures
- Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
- The work environment is informal, team-oriented, and collaborative
