Job Description & Requirements

Growing, private-equity-backed, clean technology firm has a newly-created position for a Field Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support the installations of our state-of-the-art flagship product, the EcoVolt® Reactor, in the United States. This position will be on the front lines, working at our customer sites, and will be responsible for commissioning and troubleshooting our products. As the main point of contact for commissioning activities at the job site you will be responsible for ensuring we meet our customer commitments and optimize our product performance. Typical Duties:

  • Installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing our wastewater treatment system’s control panels
  • Evaluating the desired goal of the system and developing, designing, or selecting the required equipment instruments and controls to achieve the goal
  • Integrating new control systems into existing plant control systems
  • Training plant operators and maintenance personnel on system operations
  • Ensuring that the installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements
  • Maintaining effective communication with project team members and with the customer/client

The Right Stuff:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical, environmental engineering, or similar
  • Two plus years of work experience with instrumentation and controls
  • SCADA programming experience
  • Ability to read P&ID drawings
  • Experience with control system programmable logic controllers (PLC) on range of platforms (Siemens, Allen Bradley)
  • Experience with tuning control systems (PID control loops) in the field during system testing and start-up
  • Experience in developing graphical user interface (GUI) for human-machine interface (HMI) to PLC in a variety of platforms
  • Familiarity and comfort with control systems hardware and system wiring
  • Familiarity with process sensors and actuators
  • Experience with power electronics hardware
  • Ability to travel 75% or more
  • Solid judgment and ability to relay information professionally and with credibility

Working Environment:

  • This position will have anything but a typical schedule of Monday to Friday. Must be able to work occasional overtime and be available for 24-hour emergency callbacks and standby after-hours, on-call schedule, which will include some weekends and holidays
  • You must adhere to all federal, state, local, and company safety procedures and policies including wearing appropriate PPE
  • You will be required to travel between customer sites
  • May work outside in varying temperatures
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
  • The work environment is informal, team-oriented, and collaborative
